Population Biology Concepts
Carrying Capacity |
- Carrying Capacity:The number of organisms an area can support without harming the environment.
- Reproductive Strategies:Some organisms have the type of reproductive strategy called iteroparous reproduction, meaning they often reproduce multiple times in their lifetime(such as humans). Other organisms are classified as semelparity reproducers, meaning they only reproduce once in their lifetime.
Survivorship |
- Type I-Mammals who reproduce only a few offspring and have low death rates in early and middle life.
- Type II-Organisms who have a constant death rate over the entire period of their lifetime.
- Type III-Organisms who reproduce a lot, but have a high death rate in early life.
