- Unlike primary air pollutants(shown above), secondary air pollutants are not emitted directly. Secondary air pollutants are formed by primary air pollutants mixing together. An example of a secondary air pollutant is ozone.

- Acute effects are reactions that happen shortly after being exposed to a substance. Chronic effects develop over long periods of exposure to a substance and usually are more serious than acute effects.
